DeSilva-Andrade Ends Year – 10th in the World & 3rd in Americas

Bermuda Boccia Paralympian Yushae DeSilva-Andrade ends 2022 ranked 10th in the World and 3rd in the Americas Region.

DeSilva-Andrade competes in the BC1 Individuals Female Division.

Andreza De Oliveira from Brazil is ranked number One in the World, with 126 points, Dora Basic from Croatia will end the year in second with 98 points, and Yee Ting Tan from Singapore is third with 80.5 points. DeSilva-Andrade accumulated 30.5 points for the year.

In the Americas Division, DeSilva-Andrade is currently behind World Number One De Oliveira, while Ailen Flores from Argentina is second and ranked 6th overall with 72.5 points, with DeSilva-Andrade 3rd.

DeSilva-Andrade said, “This is my first full year of competition since Covid, I can’t believe I finished it number 10 in the world and third in the America’s region.

This is so surreal to me because I honestly didn’t expect to be this far up this fast. I also finished 5th in world championships which I am super proud of.

If this competition season has taught me anything it’s that I can push through any obstacle and just relax and have fun.

Thank you to my village of supporter I love and appreciate you guys so much. Special thank you to my coach Troy and my mama because without you guys none of this would be possible. I am so excited to see what’s in store for me in the New Year.”
