Bermuda was initially granted 10 spots for athletes by the organizing committee of the Games and that number was subsequently expanded to 16 when the BOA applied for additional spots. Over the next few months qualification for the Games will be an ongoing process across several sports. Athletes have up to June 12th to meet the qualifying standards in their specific sport.
Donna Raynor, Chef de Mission for Team Bermuda, said “I have recently returned from Birmingham where I attended the Chef de Mission meeting. While there, I was able to tour the multiple villages and competition arenas. Preparations are going well, and the two refurbished competition arenas for aquatics and athletics, are near completion. Birmingham is ready to welcome the athletes and officials. I am excited and looking forward to our athletes competing, and, based on their performances during the last few weeks, I have no doubt they will represent Bermuda well.”
The BOA would like to congratulate those athletes who have qualified for Birmingham 2022 and we look forward to naming Bermuda’s final team selection on June 13th. The Commonwealth Games run from July 28th to August 8th, 2022. More information on the Games can be found at www.Birmingham2022.com
