Despite being down two riders it was a magnificent win today for Kaden Hopkins Vendee U teammate Alfie George after being in the break all day in the 72nd Tour Cycliste International de la Guadeloupe
George rode a perfect tactical battle with whittling the group down to four riders. It was a perfect finish, out-sprinting what was left of the group to take the well-deserved victory in 4:02:17.
That’s FOUR wins and TWO second-place finishes for Vendee U in 7 stages.
Hopkins made the break with George but dropped back to the Peloton after an hour or so. Still not feeling 100% but happy with today’s ride and hoping to be back to normal tomorrow for the stage 8 Time Trial. Hopkins finished 61st, clocking a time of 4:06:14.
Teammate Lucas Boniface held on the Green Points Jersey, with Hopkins 4th and George 5th in the competition.
Hopkins is now 36th overall with a combined time of 29:19:49.
