Kaden Hopkins began competing in the National Independence Cyclistic Vuelta 2021 that got underway through the 17th Duarte Highway in the Dominican Republic.
Hopkins, who is part of the Bermuda-Puerto Rico team finished 9th in a time of 3:27.26, he would lead the second pack across the line. Geovanny Garcia from the Dominican Republic was first across the line in a time of 3:23.47.
Hopkins the Under 23 Division Defending Champion, is also in third place, he is 3 minutes and 39 seconds behind the leader Manuel Steven Polanco Elena who finished 4th overall in a time of 3:23.47.
Luis Molina Pagan, Hopkins teammate was 14th overall, in a time of 3:23.55, and Julian Otero Gonzalez was the third member of the team to cross the line in a time of 3:23.56.
The Bermuda- Puerto Rico team is in 7th place after the first stage, with an overall time of 10:22.32, which is 7:28 off the leaders Venezuela Pais De Futuro who have a combined time of 10:15:04.
