Conor White and Caitlin Conyers competed in the Elite Caribbean Cycling Championships Individual Time Trial event in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and captured Silver and Bronze medals in their respective categories.
White is in his first year out of juniors, raced in the Under 23 event over 30 kilometers, finishing in a time of 40:40. White’s time was the fifth fastest of all the men and was made more impressive in that the result was achieved in a torrential downpour.
Conyers, in her first international race representing Bermuda, turned in an impressive 20 kilometer ride, covering the distance in 30:13. With the women starting earlier than the men they were able to avoid the worst of the day’s weather and the top three all produced average speeds over 24.5 mph.
In addition to the regional heads of cycling, David Lappartient, President of the International Cycling Union is attending the Regional Championships and was on hand today to present Medals to Conyers and White.
