The Bermuda swimming team of Logan Watson-Brown, Jack Harvey and Brian Desmond got off to a slow start at the Canadian Junior Championships in Calgary.
Adapting to an altitude of 3,500 feet took its toll, as the swimmers struggled to perform in their events.
However, the Bermuda swimmers would I the competition went on.
During the heats of the 100 Freestyle for 15 -17 Girls Watson-Brown shook off any concerns about competing at altitude, as she qualified for the “A” final in sixth place with a time of 58:54.
She returned to the pool and finished in fourth place with a new personal best time of 57:83. The quality of the field in this event is underlined, as the winner, Kyla Leibel will be representing Canada at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru.
Harvey, competing in the 16-18 Boys 100m Backstroke event swam a time of 1:01.92, which was within 6/10ths off his personal best, to finish twenty-first in a field of 31 swimmers.
