Moongate Tour Bermuda 2022 Scheduled for Port Royal

IslandStats.com
The penultimate event of the inaugural Moongate Tour season is scheduled for this Friday afternoon at the Port Royal Golf Course with tee times starting at 1:00pm.

Entries will close tomorrow (08/03) at noon.

Tour co-founder Chaka DeSilva: “We’ve been really encouraged by the response to the Moongate Tour since our first event back in February, and we’re looking forward to finishing the season on a high note. We have two medals remaining on our calendar prior to the Tour Championship next month, so the next six weeks should prove to be very exciting.

“The season-long Order of Merit is up for grabs, with only 1 point separating Nick Jones and Damian Palanyandi. Additionally, the race to qualify for the Tour Championship is wide open heading into the final two events of the season, so there really is everything to play for.

Bermuda Professional Golfers’ Association member Nick Jones currently sits atop the overall standings after Medal #5 in July, with amateurs Damian Palanyandi and Will Haddrell rounding out the top 3 places.

DeSilva continued: “The amateurs have definitely been the story of year one, with Damian Palanyandi and Will Haddrell finishing atop the leaderboard in all 5 events thus far. Nick Jones shared first place in our season opener and has arguably been the Tour’s most consistent performer month-in, month out; but the amateurs have been relentless in racking up the wins.

“When Andrew Trott-Francis and I first spoke about creating the Tour, one of our main goals was to provide the island’s best golfers, professionals and amateurs alike, with regular opportunities to compete against one another and I think we’ve succeeded in doing that.

“Damian and Will, along with Jarryd Dillas, have been named to the three-man team that will represent Bermuda at the World Amateur Team Championships in a few weeks’ time, and to hear that their performances on the Moongate Tour were considered during the selection process is further proof that we’re on the right track.”

Spectators are encouraged to attend and support the players as they tackle the challenging par-71 Southampton layout. The final group is expected to complete their round at approximately 6:30pm.
