Bermuda Summer Netball League Round Up

The Bermuda Netball Summer League Season resumed, but the sport is once again under a cloud of uncertainty, over the last few month’s play has been interrupted by vandals of throwing paint across the courts, rain and now players coming within inches of being hit by flying Softballs.

Although players survived as many as five close calls, an officials car was damaged when a softball hit during a Men’s League match went through the back windscreen shattering the window.

In the games a total of 127 goals were scored in a Triple Header.

BUT Teachers defeated the Phoenix Flames 33 – 7, Danielle Raynor led the BUT Teachers with 26 goals, while MVP Tanika White added 7 goals, Shanelle Lee scored 3 goals for the Phoenix Flames, who also got 2 goals apiece from Kacey McGowan and Dominique Richardson, with Kalasia Bowen named the team’s MVP.

The Xtreme Sport Scholars defeated the Rain 24 – 16, the Xtreme Sports Scholars were led by Jordyn Morris who had 16 goals, while Micah Pond added 6 goals and Selah Tuzo scored twice, with Amali Smith named the team’s MVP. Jasmyn Renfroe led the Rain with 11 goals and Diara Benjamin added 5 goals, with Asante Chapman named the team’s MVP.

In the final game of the night the BHB Angels defeated the Old Kids 39 – 8. MVP Selina Bascome scored 22 goals for the BHB Angels to lead them to victory, with Charlene Bogle-Gomez adding 17 goals, Old Kids MVP Bea Welmer scored 6 goals and Jess Thompson added 2 goals.
