Bermuda was spared having to play a rearranged game on the Opening Day of the 2019 Jean Pierre Under 16 Tournament in Antigua & Barbuda, due to the late arrival of Trinidad & Tabago, as they were originally scheduled to have a bye.
Bermuda would kicked of their first match against Grenada after much delay due to lightning issues and Bermuda would pick up a 24 – 23 win.
Bermuda Starting Lineup: GS - Asrael Basden, GA - Selah Tuzo, WA - Coriah Simmons, C - Alexcie Burrows, WD - K'Xiyae Gibbons, GD - G'zai Dyer, GK - Elishae Smith.
Both teams started out slow only scoring a combined total of 10 goals at 5 apiece at the end of the First Quarter. They continued to battle with Bermuda edging Grenada 12 - 11 at the half.
Bermuda made two changes heading into the Third Quarter with Simmons taking up the center position while Jade Johnston coming in at wing attack. This adjustment along with Grenada's dominant center suffering a slight injury and the dominance by goalkeeper Smith who gobbled up ball after ball despite the height difference with Grenada's goal shooter standing at nothing less than 6.2', gave Bermuda a great boost with them gaining momentum finishing the Quarter leading 19 - 14.
Grenada came into the Final Quarter giving everything they had, however Bermuda's never say die attitude catapulted them to victory, with the Bermuda team and supporters erupting in jubilation!!
Asrael Basden would led the scoring for Bermuda with 18 goals, while Selah Tuzo chipped in with 6 goals.
