UCLA sophomore forward Mia Fishel has earned her first call-up to U.S. Women's National Team training camp, which will take place in Commerce City, Colorado from October 18th-28th. Joining her on the 27-player roster in the national team's first camp in seven months are UCLA alumnae Abby Dahlkemper and Ashley Sanchez.
Fishel's most recent USWNT appearance came at the 2020 CONCACAF Under-20 Championships, where she won the Golden Ball after scoring 13 goals, a new record for a U.S. player at a CONCACAF Youth Qualifying Tournament. Two of her 13 goals were scored in the championship game, including the game-winner. Fishel has extensive US Youth National Team experience, having played in the 2018 U-17 World Cup and CONCACAF Championships, and the 2016 CONCACAF Under-15 Championships.
The San Diego native led UCLA scoring in 2019 with 14 goals, six game-winning goals, and 31 points. She was also the Bruins' leading scorer in the postseason, tallying five goals and 11 points. Selected to Top Drawer Soccer's Freshman Best XI, Fishel ranked third among all freshmen in the nation in goals scored. Fishel was selected to the Pac-12's all-conference third team and to the all-freshman squad.
