John Pemberton, Milan Butterfield’s Chesterfield coach was pleased to get back on the training ground with the players as the build-up to the new season began.
Players took part in sessions in small groups due to the regulations currently in place and the manager was happy with what he saw while admitting it was not the perfect scenario.
"The lads look fit and they have clearly been following the fitness programmes we gave them in lockdown," said Pemberton. "They are very happy to be back and they're chomping at the bit to play again.
"It's not ideal because what should be a two-hour session takes six hours as we have to put on three different sessions due to the size of each group. There is nothing we can do about that, however, so we just have to get on with it and ensure the safety of everyone involved."
