A Zeiko Lewis stunner was not enough as Charleston Battery fell 2 – 1 to Birmingham Legion FC.
After having to wait 133 days since they last saw competition, Lewis and his teammates were down 1 – 0 after just 12 minutes when Brian Wright scored on a breakaway.
But Charleston was level at 1 – 1 in the 30th minute when Lewis met a cross at the top of the box and blasted a shot past a helpless goalkeeper.
In the 54th minute, the Birmingham Legion FC went back in front through a Bruno Lapa goal that took a deflection.
The Charleston Battery tried to find the equalizer, however, time ran out on them.
