On the day that Sussex Cricket moved quickly to bolster their fast bowling ranks with the news that they have agreed terms with West Indian international Jerome Taylor, as a replacement for Vernon Philander for the Royal London One-Day Cup group stages, the Sussex Seconds team featuring Delray Rawlins defeated Essex Seconds.
With rain in the forecast Sussex Seconds won the toss and elected to field, they bowled Essex Seconds out for 211 after 49.1 overs.
Rawlins finished with figures of 2-1-6-0.
In the reply Sussex found themselves in a deep hole, at 23/5 as the conditions changed drastically. Rawlins went without scoring.
After a few stop starts Sussex Seconds reached 148/6 when players went off for bad light, the light got better and Sussex then had a revised to a target of 207, leaving them 61 from 14 overs.
Sussex Seconds went on to win by 2 wickets scoring 207/8 from 42.2 overs.
