Chare Smith and his Uphill Castle Cricket Club teammates have done it! After a very tough day in the field and an under-par performance, Uphill got the points required to seal 2nd place and promotion into the Somerset Premier League.
Batting first, Castle Cary posted 242/7. Tom Williams was the top scorer with 62, Himesha Halneththige was the pick of the Uphill bowlers with figures of 9-0-30-3, Smith bowled 9-1-28-1.
In reply, Uphill lost two wickets in the first over, looking in real trouble at 0-2. Uphill needed 5 batting points to secure promotion, 100 was the magic total.
After tight bowling from Castle Cary, Smith would come in with the score on 76, he dug in to take Uphill over the line, Uphill was eventually bowled out for 164 with Smith the top scorer with a knock of 53, which came off 56 balls, he hit 5 fours and 2 sixes. Alan Henley was the pick of the Castle Cary bowlers with figures of 7-1-11-3.
