Delray Rawlins’ Sussex Sharks teammate Tom Clark has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.
Seven members of Sussex’s first-team squad, an Academy player, and a member of the team’s support staff have been identified by the club as having had close contact with Tom in the 48 hours preceding the onset of his symptoms and have also entered self-isolation.
The other first-team players self-isolating are Jamie Atkins, James Coles, Henry Crocombe, Tom Haines, Sean Hunt, Rawlins and Ollie Robinson. They and Clark will not be available for selection during their periods of isolation.
Meanwhile, Rawlins' Sussex Sharks teammate's match against Surrey on Sunday was just one ball away from completing a Vitality Blast match at The 1st Central County Ground when umpires Tim Robinson and Paul Baldwin led the players from the field. They did not return, so each team took one point from a no result.
And then today Rawlins and his Sussex Sharks teammates suffered their fifth abandonment in the Vitality Blast when Tuesday night's game against Kent Spitfires at The 1st Central County Ground was called off.
Umpires Neil Mallender and Gary Pratt made their decision two hours before the scheduled 7 pm start because of a wet outfield. Moments later there was more heavy rain.
It means more frustration for Sussex, who started their South Group campaign with three wins but have completed just one of their six subsequent matches, when they lost to Gloucestershire on Friday.
