The Eastern Counties Cricket Association (ECCA) has decided to proceed with the hosting of the annual classic. The annual classic was canceled in 2020, due to the global pandemic, but all four member clubs are eager to see this prestigious event return as of July 17th.
ECCA President Mr. Steven Douglas said, “The ECCA Annual Classic, plays an important role in preserving and promoting Bermuda’s vibrant and community orientated culture. The historical legacy of the annual classic, including the sporting challenge between all four clubs, brings Bermudians from all walks of life together each year. The return of the classic is even more important this year, as it will remind us of how important life is and that we cannot take our traditions, cultural experiences, and community (sports) based events for granted.”
“As President of the Eastern Counties Cricket Association and on behalf of our member clubs, players, match officials, and loyal fans, we wish to thank the following corporate partners for their continued support: John Barritt & Son Ltd., Gosling Brothers Limited, Digicel Group Bermuda and Stevedoring Services Limited. The Eastern Counties Cricket Association is humbled by the loyalty and friendship shown during the global Covid-19 pandemic and may our mutually beneficial relationships continue, for many years to come.”
The ECCA wishes to remind all participants, spectators, and match officials that the Annual Classic will be guided by the Covid-19 regulations via the Ministries of Health & National Security.
