Former Cup Match Players Association Granted Charity Status

Dean Minors with Allan Douglas & Charlie Marshall
IslandStats.com
The Former Cup Match Players and Officials Association ‘FCMPOA’ headed by Dean Minors has been granted charitable status.

Former Cup Match players and officials, from both Somerset and St. George’s have joined forces to form the association.

The association’s primary mission is to:

a) provide financial assistance to Former Cup Match Players and Officials who require supporting health care and/or other essential living needs
b) assist young Bermudian cricketers aspiring to further their education and/or certification within the sport of cricket, and
c) to protect, preserve and promote the significance of Cup Match and the game of cricket

The association has future plans to promote the history and significance of Cup Match annually through public speaking, hosting lectures and panel discussions with past and present Cup Match Players and aspiring, ambitious young cricketers who have a desire to participate in the Annual Cup Match Classic.

The former players and officials that formed the idea of the association recognized there was a disparity in our community as it relates to providing financial assistance, when required, to those former players, those that officiated or that were affiliated with hosting the Annual Cup Match Classic.

There was a desire from several former players and officials to help and become involved for this purpose. We are proud, that past players and officials have formed the association, the knowledge, experience and passion for the game is still evident in most.

We are in the process of creating and refreshing social media outlets, a calendar of events and other artefacts to benefit the progression of the association. We appeal to all those former cup match players and officials to get in touch and become members in order to grow the association and become a fundamental facet in the legacy of Cup Match. We would like also like to extend a invitation to cup match enthusiast, lovers of cricket, and the general public to become a part of this association.

The FCMPOA Committee currently consists of the following primary members;
Dean Minors - President
Roger Trott - Vice President
Hasan Durham - Secretary
Emmanuel Faria - Treasurer
Charlotte Simons - Affiliated Member
John Tucker - Affiliated Member

To get in touch with the association, please email: FCMPOA@yahoo.com
