Following the success of our 'Wicket World Cup', which saw Chris Jordan's perfect yorker vs. Durham crowned as the best dismissal taken since Jason Gillespie became Sussex Cricket head coach, we're delighted to be launching 'The Innings World Cup'!
Since Dizzy took over at The 1st Central County Ground in November 2017, a host of memorable innings have been played by our batsmen, and we've chosen 16 of the very best to face off against one another in knockout tournament style.
Over the next three weeks, fans will be able to relive incredible performances with the bat from the likes of Ben Brown, Luke Wright, David Wiese, Delray Rawlins and Luke Wells, and vote for their favorite on Twitter from 10:00am each day.
Some innings have been selected for sheer brilliance out in the middle, while others have made the cut for the importance of the knock.
Up first on Monday: Laurie Evans' stunning 96 vs. Somerset in the 2018 Vitality Blast, which is the highest individual T20 score by a Shark since Dizzy arrived in Sussex, against Phil Salt's incredible 148 off just 138 balls vs. Derbyshire in the County Championship.
Rawlins features in Match 7, his 100 against Lancashire will battle Wiese’s 171 vs. Hampshire.
You will have until 5pm each day to cast your vote in each fixture, with the tournament culminating on Thursday 4th June. Make sure you get involved to decide the greatest innings of ‘The Dizzy Years’!
