Islandstats Reveals Bermuda Under 19 Schedule

IslandStats.com
Bermuda is looking to qualify for their first Under-19 World Cup since 2008.

Host board Cricket Canada has unveiled the schedule for the 2019 ICC Under-19 World Cup Americas Regional Qualifier to be held from July 8th – 14th at Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City. It features Bermuda’s Under-19 opening up their tournament against host Canada and concluding with a showdown against Argentina.

This is the second time in a row that Canada will be hosting the tournament.

The winner will go on to represent the Americas Region in the ICC Under 19 World Cup scheduled to be played in South Africa in 2020.

The tournament format has shifted back closer to what it had been from its inception in 2001 for the first six editions through 2011 when it was a single round-robin format. Cayman Islands and Argentina return to the fold for 2019 after having been kept out in 2013, 2015 and 2017 when it was a double round-robin affair contested by just three teams: USA, Canada and Bermuda.

Bermuda’s tournament opener on July 8th is against their first significant test Canada, and the following day Bermuda will face their second significant test when they take on USA on July 9th.

After a scheduled off/reserve day on Wednesday July 10th, Bermuda faces Cayman Island on July 11th before their scheduled final match on July 12th against Argentina.

The tournament’s second rest day is scheduled for Saturday July 13th with Bermuda receiving a Bye on the final day of the tournament on Sunday July 14th. A final reserve day has been scheduled for Monday July 15th in case of rain.
