Delray Rawlins and his England Under 19 teammates are taking on India’s Under 19’s in their 2nd Youth One Day International match at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, India.
Batting first the Indians scored 287/8 in their allotted 50 overs with Harvik Desai the top scorer with 75, Matt Fisher was the pick of the England Under 19 bowlers with figures of 10-1-44-4. Rawlins did bowl he had figures of 10-0-44-0, he did hold onto a catch.
In reply the England Under 19’s were bowled out for 158, Rawlins was the top scorer yet again, this time he scored 46 off 35 deliveries, he hit 5 fours and 2 sixes in his inning. Anukul Roy was the pick of the India Under 19 bowlers with figures of 7-1-34-3.
Rawlins, England's match-winner in the previous game, was fluent from the outset. He was the only batsmen from both teams to persist with cross-batted strokes off the spinners, employing the sweep and reverse-sweep to fruition. He forced India's spinners, who troubled the rest of the batting line-up, to over-compensate. He profited while waiting on the back foot too, rocking back and muscling sixes straight down the ground. No other batsman in this series has come close to matching his power. He was LBW for 46, off the bowling of Ishan Porel, but the ball may have pitched outside leg.
