Kamau Leverock helped guide the Somerset County Cricket Club 2nd team to a 5 wicket victory over Essex 2nd team in their 2nd XI Trophy 50 over match.

Somerset won the toss and decided to field, they bowled Essex all out 229 after 48.4 overs, Leverock finished with figures of 9-0-45-3.

In reply Somerset scored 230/5 in 42.2 overs, Leverock was not required to bat.

Meanwhile the 3 Bermuda Cricket Board Academy Girls have successfully completed their first UK cricket camp based in Cranbrook. The camp was delivered by the Skillz Academy and provided further opportunity for the girls to experience cricket with the hard ball.

The camp syllabus included competitive matches, batting awareness and tactics, bowling basics and running between the wickets. Rose Simmons captured an award for “Best all round performance in the hard ball cricket game.” This was Rose’s first game with the hard ball.

In addition to the camp the girls have already had 2 intensive high performance sessions with specialist girls coach Halima Khan. Coach Khan stated, “The girls have come on hugely over the last few days and have a real thirst to learn and develop as individuals and for the team. BCB are providing a great opportunity for the girls to gain valuable knowledge and experience of cricket cross country which is a real testament to the commitment the board has growing the game for women's cricket.”
