Fray on Cricket in Olympics & Commonwealth Games

BCB President Fray
IslandStats.com
Yesterday www.islandstats.com reported that officials who are hosting the Commonwealth Games 2022 are exploring the option of introducing Cricket to the Games.

The ICC have already begun along with the International Olympic Committee looking into Cricket being an Olympic Sport.

A few days from now, others will more than likely write or report something you have already been made aware of.

We asked the Bermuda Cricket Board President Lloyd Fray for his thoughts on Cricket in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

Fray said, “I am particularly encouraged by the news that the ICC are open to considering the inclusion of cricket in multi-sport games. The BCB has always advocated this as an important aspect of the growth of the sport. The ICC Vision from its strategic plan 2011-2015 is “A bigger, better, global sport”. Embracing the opportunities to the cricketing world via events such as the Commonwealth Games is a natural objective consistent with that vision. I am also heartened to read that ICC Director Mr Giles Clarke and ICC Chief Executive Mr David Richardson should meet with the International Olympic Committee next month to find out more about these opportunities.”
