IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Cricket Board announced the National Senior squad for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in Dubai in November. The squad will travel to Dubai on November 8th in preparation for the qualifier which provides 6 qualifiers for the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh next April.

BCB President Lloyd Fray said, "I am very happy with the work that the squad has been doing under that guidance of National Coach Arnold Manders and his coaching staff. The attendance and effort of the players is very good and I am encouraged to see some new faces in the squad. It is pleasing to note that many of the top domestic performers on the Logic MVP statistics are featured in our training group - I am confident that this team will give 100% effort and commitment to being the best that they can be. I am especially heartened by the passion that I witness from players and coaching staff and the professionalism of their approach, I expect that this "national pride" will be an asset in a very difficult competition."

Coach Manders explained, “The squad are competing in an international series of 3 matches against USA next weekend as part of the detailed preparation plan that we are following. Allan Douglas Jnr and Kamau Leverock are unavailable for this tour therefore Brian Hall has been invited to join the group when we leave on Friday. I am pleased with the mix of experienced and younger players who face a very rigorous tournament against tough opposition.”

Janeiro Tucker, ICC Regional T20 MVP stated, “It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead the Bermuda team at the World Cup Qualifier next month. I have been working hard on my game and my fitness and I am confident that the appointment of captaincy will enhance my desire and hopefully my playing performance next month. I will be working closely with the coaching staff to ensure that our squad is professional in its execution of game plans. I am confident that the group of players that we have will gel together well and represent Bermuda with passion and pride. It will be a dream come true if I can replicate the success of July 2005 when we qualified in the 50 over format of the game."

Lloyd Fray, President of the BCB said, "Further to our announcement on October 1st that Stephen Outerbridge had informed the BCB that he is unavailable for this tour due to personal commitments. I am happy to congratulate Janeiro Tucker on his appointment as the captain of Bermuda for this tournament. Janeiro has been an outstanding player at the domestic and international level for a number of years and has a keen cricket mind. He is respected by the players and our community and is a proven leader on and off the cricket field. Many of us remember one of Bermuda's proudest moments in July 2005 when Bermuda qualified for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. I hope that we all remember that is was Janeiro Tucker who was captain at that time, he had taken over the reins when Clay Smith was injured in an early match, and he lead our country to qualification. I hope that proves to be a lucky omen for our country in next month's tournament."
