The Charles and Lesley Marshall Fund Trevo Academy

IslandStats.com
Trevo Academy will expand access to its high-performance 2026 summer programme thanks to a $10,000 contribution from The Charles and Lesley Marshall Fund for Football, helping ensure more young Bermudians have access to elite coaching, mentorship and opportunities to thrive through sport.

The contribution includes $5,000 to assist with equipment and operational costs and $5,000 to provide seven fully funded registrations for the 2026 summer programme.

Families wishing to apply should visit the Trevo Academy website at www.trevoacademy.com to view details of how to apply. Applications close on July 24th, 2026, and recipients will be selected by the Trevo Academy team.

Established in 2017, The Charles and Lesley Marshall Fund for Football was created to honour the vision of the late Charles "Charlie" Marshall and his wife, Lesley, to invest in Bermuda's young people through sport. Charlie believed that Bermuda's youth should have the resources, mentorship and opportunities to thrive. A long-serving Bermuda referee, FIFA-certified official, former President of the Bermuda Referees Association and former President of the Bermuda Football Association, Charlie believed in creating opportunities for future generations long after his time on the pitch.

The Fund's Committee of Advisors—Lesley Marshall, Ryan Marshall, Troy Harvey and Shervin Dill—continues to honour and advance that vision. Managed by the Bermuda Foundation, the Fund is committed to ensuring the highest standards of stewardship, sustainability and community impact.

Shervin Dill, Director of The Charles and Lesley Marshall Fund for Football, said: "The Charles and Lesley Marshall Fund for Football was established to carry forward Charlie and Lesley's vision of giving back to the sport that meant so much to them. Charlie's vision was born out of profound gratitude. He believed retirement shouldn't mark the end of his contribution to football, but the beginning of a legacy that would create opportunities for young people across Bermuda for generations to come.

Supporting Trevo Academy reflects that vision by investing in young people through football and helping ensure more aspiring players have access to high-quality development opportunities. We are proud to support Trevo Academy's 2026 summer programme and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on participants, their families and the future of football in Bermuda."

Founded by Bermudian footballers Remy Coddington, Ajani Burchall and Sincere Hall, whose experience spans professional academy systems at AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa, West Ham United and Hull City, Trevo Academy's high-performance 2026 summer programme combines elite coaching with leadership and personal development for boys and girls ages 8 to 13.

Remy Coddington, Co-Founder of Trevo Academy, said, "Trevo Academy was created to bring the standards we experienced in professional environments to Bermuda's young players. Through our 2026 summer programme, we aim to develop not only footballers, but confident, disciplined young people. The support of The Charles and Lesley Marshall Fund for Football will help us deliver that experience while ensuring more young athletes have the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances. We are grateful for the Fund's investment in the next generation and for sharing our belief that football can be a vehicle for personal growth and opportunity."

Hibs Fall in Hard-Fought Pre-Season Clash

IslandStats.com
A youthful Hibernian Academy side suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to senior opponents Haddington Athletic in an action-packed pre-season friendly at Millfield.

Following an impressive away victory over Lowland League East outfit Musselburgh Athletic at the weekend, Darren McGregor’s squad was handed another physical, senior test. Despite missing a host of regular starters, the young Hibees—heavily featuring Under-17 talents—delivered a robust and highly encouraging performance against their more experienced hosts.

The visitors looked lively from the first whistle and nearly took the lead inside two minutes. Cole Shankland found Josh McDonald in attack, but the forward could only strike the side-netting.

Haddington responded immediately and ruthlessly. Just a minute later, Ryan Cameron’s curved cross from the right wing found Grant Rose, who finished clinically from close range to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

Hibs hastily regrouped and began to dominate possession, utilizing a shifted system that saw Logan Jimenez pushed into a higher, more central attacking role. Having featured as a left-wingback in his previous outing, Jimenez provided a dynamic aerial presence and a central focal point alongside McDonald.

Hibs peppered the Haddington box, with Callum MacDonald, Alisdair Burns, and McDonald all testing the hosts' goalkeeper. Haddington remained dangerous on the break, forcing Ryan Mallon into a spectacular finger-tip save onto the crossbar to deny Tom Davies.

Before the break, Jimenez was at the heart of Hibs' best chances. After failing to convert a clever pass from Burns, the Bermudian international turned playmaker. Jimenez picked up the ball and delivered a precise, intelligent cutback to a Hibs trialist, who was agonizingly denied by the crossbar.

McGregor's side got the reward their pressure deserved just 30 seconds into the second half. The energetic Shankland caused havoc down the right flank, firing a low, piercing delivery across the face of goal that was turned into the net by a Haddington defender to level the scores at 1-1.

Hibs defended resolutely, with crucial interventions from youngsters Lewis McNeill, Waldman, and Riddell keeping the hosts at bay. However, Haddington struck the decisive blow in the 57th minute. Following a lightning-quick counter-attack orchestrated by Mark McGovern and winger Cameron, Davies was on hand to apply a simple finish to make it 2-1.

McGregor turned to his bench to inject fresh energy, introducing Zoba Aghanya. The substitute made an immediate impact, driving directly at the Haddington defense before threading a brilliant pass to Jimenez.

Jimenez struck it well, but was denied a deserved goal as a Haddington defender made a heroic, last-ditch clearance to safety.

Though the young Hibs pressed hard until the final whistle, clear-cut opportunities dried up in the final half-hour of a grueling, highly beneficial pre-season workout.

Zuill & Bolton Hit Ten in Pre-Season Rout Ahead of Rangers Test

IslandStats.com
Na’Im Zuill and his Bolton Wanderers Youth teammates got their pre-season campaign off to a flying start as they build towards the new campaign under head youth coach Danny Clarke.

The Whites' 2026/27 youth squad features nine new first-year scholars who have made the step up from U16 level. Among the fresh intake is Bermudian youth international Zuill, a versatile, left-footed attacker recruited from Oldham Athletic.

"We're building up the match fitness, and Saturday's going to be a fantastic test for these boys." — Danny Clarke, Bolton Head Youth Coach

Clarke's side showed no signs of rustiness as they neared full strength, sweeping aside Welsh outfit Connahs Quay Nomads 10-0 in a dominant second warm-up fixture at Lostock.

Zuill played the second half of the match and had four assists in the match.

The young Whites were spearheaded by a phenomenal five-minute hat-trick from substitute Asa Littler. Denver Clement added a moment of magic with a finessed, long-range strike from outside the area, while Sonny Coyne grabbed a brace with clinical finishes either side of the half-time break.

The road gets considerably tougher on Saturday when the squad travels north to face Scottish giants Rangers at their elite academy base.

"Saturday's going to be a fantastic test for these boys, and I'm looking forward to going up to Rangers," Clarke added.

Young Hibs Dig Deep to Seal Late Pre-Season Win

IslandStats.com
Logan Jimenez and his Hibs Academy teammates opened their pre-season campaign with a gritty 2-1 away victory over Musselburgh Athletic.

With the path to the first team wide open, Academy coach Darren McGregor was forced to name an even more youthful Hibs XI for the trip to Olivebank Stadium.

Key starlets Lewis Gillie and Zach Bruce were both absent due to their involvement with Stranraer, while under-19s captain Joseph McGrath was away on senior duty with David Gray's first-team squad.

Yet, the Easter Road youngsters rose to the occasion in East Lothian, showcasing plenty of resilience to edge past their Lowland League East opponents.

After a fiercely contested, goalless first half, the match exploded into life in the final quarter of an hour.

In the 67th minute Hibs finally broke the deadlock when Reiss Downie found space to fire the visitors ahead.

In the 75th minute the hosts struck back just eight minutes later, with Jonny Court leveling the scoring to set up a grandstand finish.

With the match seemingly destined for a draw, Hibs' late pressure paid off. In the final minute of regulation time, Josh McDonald popped up in the box to smash home a dramatic winner, ensuring McGregor's young side started their summer schedule on the perfect note.
