The 2026 Kappa Classic officially roared into life across the National Sports Center North Field and the Devonshire Recreation Club, cementing its status as the most highly anticipated youth tournament on the island’s sporting calendar.
In what has grown from a modest Pee Wee competition into a sprawling three-day extravaganza, the opening session provided immediate drama in the Under 13 division. Dandy Town Browns laid down an early marker in Group A, edging out a resilient Southampton Rangers side 1-0 in a contest defined by tactical discipline. The group grew even more competitive shortly after as Warwick Football Academy Boca delivered a statement performance, cruising to a 3-0 victory over FC Bascome Gold.
The goal-scoring intensity continued in Group B, where St. George's Colts emerged victorious in a six-goal thriller against North Village Rams White. The Colts’ clinical finishing proved to be the difference in their 4-2 win, while over in Group D, the PHC Zebras Whites showed their championship pedigree with a disciplined 2-0 win over Vasco YP Greens.
It was a similarly competitive start for the girls’ divisions, where the Under 15 Group A action produced a tactical battle between the PHC Zebras and BFLA Blacks. In a match of few chances, the Zebras found the decisive breakthrough to claim a vital 1-0 win, setting the tone for a weekend of football that continues to prioritize sportsmanship and achievement.
With more than 1,000 young athletes set to take the pitch over the coming days, the opening results suggest that the 2026 edition of the "premier youth spectator event" is poised to be the most competitive to date.
Grant & Gillingham Grind Out Vital Away Win at Cambridge
IslandStats.com
Gillingham FC’s Academy continued their impressive run of form securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cambridge United to maintain their push at the top of the youth standings.
In a contest defined by tactical discipline and clinical finishing, the young Gills showed great resilience to take all three points back to Kent. Among the traveling squad was Bermuda’s Nayan Grant, who played his part in a cohesive team performance that stifled the hosts for much of the afternoon.
The breakthrough came via Callum Erskine, whose composed finish gave Gillingham the early momentum their industrious play deserved. While Cambridge searched for a route back into the match, the Gills' backline held firm, allowing the visitors to catch the hosts on the break.
The decisive blow was struck by Henry Broster, whose goal proved to be the winner in a tightly contested second half. Although Cambridge managed to pull a goal back to set up a nervy finale, Gillingham’s game management shone through in the closing stages.
The result marks another successful road trip for the Gillingham Academy, further highlighting the strength of a development program that continues to provide a platform for emerging talents like Grant to test themselves against the region's best. With the win secured, the focus for the Gills now shifts to a home double-header as they look to consolidate their league position.

Trevo Academy Summer Program Announced
IslandStats.com
A new standard in youth football development is being introduced this summer, as Trevo Academy launches a program combining high-quality training with leadership, discipline, and personal growth.
Founded by Remy Coddington, Ajani Burchill, and Sincere Hall, the academy draws on their experience within professional systems at AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United F.C., Aston Villa F.C., and Hull City A.F.C. to introduce consistent, high-standard training for boys and girls aged 8 to 13.
The program operates on a two-week cohort model, with groups capped at 20 players to ensure quality coaching and individual attention. Alongside daily football training and tactical development, participants will engage in leadership sessions focused on discipline, confidence, and accountability, supported by education in strength, recovery, and nutrition. Spaces are limited to maintain a high-quality environment and provide a structured, safe, and disciplined setting for young players throughout the summer. The program is open to players of all experience levels.
“Our objective is to bring the standards we experienced overseas into a structured local setting,” said Program Lead Remy Coddington. What sets this program apart is the level of discipline and accountability we apply every day — not just in how players train, but in how they develop as individuals. This is about preparing young people for the demands of higher-level environments, both on and off the pitch.”
Trevo Academy has partnered with North Village Community Club, with the program utilizing the club’s facilities as part of a shared commitment to strengthening youth development and community impact.
“North Village is proud to support this initiative, especially as it is led by players who began their journey with the club,” said DeVrae Tankard. “Seeing them give back in this way speaks to the strength of the community and the importance of creating positive pathways for the next generation.”
The academy is further supported by an experienced team including Coach Stephan Jones, Strength & Conditioning Lead Melissa Smith, and Team Physician Dr. Amne Osseryan, reinforcing a holistic approach to player development.
Registration is now open, with full details available at TrevoAcademy.com. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for organizations looking to support youth development.

FC Bascome Secure Under 18 Knock-Out Title
IslandStats.com
FC Bascome clinched the Bermuda Football Association Under 18 Knock-Out Trophy on Sunday after a commanding 4-1 victory over North Village Rams at the National Sports Center.
FC Bascome 4 North Village Rams 1
The contest at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium began with FC Bascome asserting their dominance almost immediately. The opening goal arrived in just the 10th minute when Christian Piney found a way through the North Village defence to put his side ahead. Before the Rams had a chance to settle, the lead was doubled in the 17th minute as Rajee Knight-Rowling capitalised on a lapse in concentration to make it 2-0.
Despite the early setback, North Village Rams remained competitive and managed to frustrate their opponents for the remainder of the first half. They eventually found a lifeline shortly after the interval when Norico Furbert found the back of the net in the 59th minute. The goal shifted the momentum and set up a tense final half-hour as the Rams pushed for a potential equaliser.
However, FC Bascome’s resilience proved decisive as they weathered the storm. The two-goal cushion was finally restored in the 86th minute through a composed finish from Rylan Desilva, effectively ending the North Village comeback hopes. The result was put beyond all doubt in stoppage time when an unfortunate own goal added a fourth for FC Bascome.
The final whistle sparked celebrations for the Bascome side, who justified their status as favourites with a display of clinical finishing and defensive discipline. While North Village showed flashes of quality, they were unable to match the consistency of a Bascome outfit that now looks to build on this youth success in the seasons to come.
