Grant & Gillingham Youth Upset Luton to boost Alliance Standing
|
Gillingham FC Academy produced a disciplined collective performance to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over high-flying Luton Town in the EFL Youth Alliance South.
The result represents a significant "giant-killing" on the youth circuit, with the 14th-placed Gills successfully stifling a Luton side currently entrenched in the top four of the division. Despite the gap in the standings, it was Gillingham who demonstrated the greater clinical edge in a match defined by tactical rigidity and physical duels.
The decisive moment arrived courtesy of Donte Augustus, who found the breakthrough to clinch all three points for the hosts. Bermuda’s Nayan Grant was among those putting in a "solid shift" for the Gills, contributing to a defensive effort that successfully nullified one of the league's most potent attacking units.
For Luton Town, the defeat is a missed opportunity to close the gap on league leaders AFC Wimbledon, who currently hold a commanding lead at the summit of the Youth Alliance South. The Hatters remain in fourth position on 46 points, but will be wary of the chasing pack following this rare slip-up against bottom-half opposition.
Gillingham, meanwhile, will take immense confidence from a clean sheet and a victory against elite opposition. The three points move them closer to the mid-table clutter, providing a vital boost as the academy staff look to finish the 2025-26 campaign with positive momentum.

Grant & Gillingham fall to Wimbledon in Youth Alliance clash
|
Nayan Grant and his Gillingham FC Academy teammates endured a frustrating afternoon on the road as they fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat against a clinical AFC Wimbledon side.
The young Gills travelled to face the Dons in a highly anticipated Youth Alliance fixture, looking to build on recent positive results in their 2025/26 campaign. Grant, who has established himself as a key figure in the Gillingham defensive unit since securing his scholarship, was tasked with containing a high-pressing Wimbledon attack that has been among the most prolific in the division this season.
Despite a resilient performance from the Kent-based side, Wimbledon managed to find the breakthrough in a tightly contested opening period. Gillingham showed great character to remain in the hunt, pushing for an equaliser through their fluid transitional play, but the hosts eventually doubled their advantage to leave the Gills with a mountain to climb.
Gillingham did manage to claw a goal back late in the contest to set up a tense finale, but the Dons held firm to secure the three points. The result marks a rare setback for Grant and his teammates, who have otherwise enjoyed a productive season highlighted by dramatic come-from-behind draws and high-scoring victories.
The Bermudian defender has been a standout performer for the Academy this term, notably providing key assists and even finding the scoresheet in a dramatic 3-3 draw against Milton Keynes Dons earlier in the season. Grant will now look to regroup with the squad as they prepare for their next league outing, with the focus remaining on their development and climb up the Youth Alliance standings.

Bean-Fox & Fray Prove Deadly for Future Pro in Tamworth
|
Bean-Fox & Fray IslandStats.com Bermuda’s Harlem Bean-Fox and Kennahz Fray produced a clinical attacking display to help Future Pro Academy maintain their fine form in the National Football Youth League Under-23 Division.
The Bermudian duo travelled to Tamworth as part of an elite squad that has been setting the standard in the U23 Central league this season. Bean-Fox made an immediate impact on the contest, finding the back of the net in just the sixth minute to give Future Pro the early advantage. Demonstrating exceptional composure, he raced clear of his marker before rounding the goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the far post.
The young forward remained a constant menace to the Tamworth defence throughout the opening period, nearly doubling his tally moments later when a powerful strike rattled the upright.
Bean-Fox’s goal-scoring exploits were heavily supported by the technical brilliance of compatriot Kennahz Fray. Operating with characteristic flair, Fray’s close ball control and vision allowed him to wriggle past defenders in tight spaces, consistently providing the service for Bean-Fox’s direct runs.
The partnership highlights the growing influence of Bermudian talent within the Coventry-based academy, with both players continuing to enhance their reputations following recent trials with professional clubs in the English Football League. Their seamless coordination in Tamworth served as another reminder of the "deadly" potential this pair possesses when leading the line together.

Mixed Fortunes for Brunson as QPR Face Double Matchday
|
Bermudian prospect Kalen Brunson and his Queens Park Rangers Development Squad teammates endured a unique and demanding schedule this week as the club fulfilled two separate fixtures on the same day.
The afternoon began with a stern test in the Professional Development League as QPR travelled to the TSG Training Centre to face Sheffield United. Brunson was named in the starting XI for this league clash, featuring in a side that looked to dictate play against a well-organized Blades outfit.
Despite a spirited performance from the R’s, Sheffield United proved to be the more clinical side on the day, securing a 2–0 victory. The result was a frustrating one for Brunson and his teammates, who struggled to break down a resilient United defense despite several promising attacking sequences.
However, the mood within the camp shifted significantly later in the day as the focus turned to cup competition. While one half of the squad dealt with league duties, the remaining members of the Development Squad shifted their attention to the London Senior Cup. Brunson, having completed his shift against the Blades, watched on as his teammates produced a masterclass against AFC Wimbledon.
In a one-sided encounter, QPR dismantled the Dons with a clinical 4–0 win to emphatically secure their place in the competition's final four. The victory ensures that the club’s silverware ambitions remain firmly intact, with a London Senior Cup semi-final now on the horizon. For Brunson, the day served as a reminder of the relentless nature of academy football, balancing the disappointment of a league setback with the triumph of a major cup progression.

Jimenez & Hibs’ Historic Unbeaten Run Ends
|
Logan Jimenez and his Hibernian Under-19 teammates saw their remarkable 22-match unbeaten league run come to a crashing halt as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Dundee United.
In a tense encounter at Foundation Park, Hibs commanded the lion's share of possession and goal-scoring opportunities, yet they were left to rue a lack of clinical finishing in the final third. The deadlock was eventually broken in the 79th minute when Jack Anderson produced an accurate strike to ensure all three points remained in Dundee.
The visitors started with intent and twice came agonizingly close to an opener in quick succession. Luke Davidson saw a 25-yard free-kick whistle just past the target before Logan Jimenez nearly produced a moment of magic, fizzing a well-taken effort narrowly over the crossbar from a challenging angle.
As the match progressed, Hibs began to exert even greater control over the tempo, but the breakthrough remained elusive. Jimenez was again at the heart of the action, firing wide during a frantic minute where the visitors launched wave after wave of attacks.
Despite the sustained pressure from the Edinburgh side, it was Dundee United who found the decisive blow late in the second half. Anderson’s composed finish left Hibs with little time to respond, marking their first league defeat in over 20 matches.
While the result brings an end to a historic streak, the performance of Jimenez and the young Hibs squad suggests they remain the team to beat as they look to bounce back in the championship race.
