Stars & Chargers Secure Victories in Summer League

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Netball Summer League season continued at a sun-drenched Bernard Park with a full slate of fixtures across both the Women’s and Coed Divisions. In a night defined by clinical shooting and defensive resilience, the Lady Stars provided the standout performance in the Women’s Division with a convincing 25–8 victory over PHC.

Marissa Brangman was the catalyst for the Stars, accounting for 19 of her side’s goals to earn the Attacker of the Match award, while the versatile K’Xiyae Gibbons was named both Most Valuable Player and best defender for her dominant display in the circle. PHC struggled to find a rhythm against the relentless Stars' pressure, despite a battling effort from Terita Bean and Vernicka Symonds, who split the scoring with four goals apiece.

The second fixture in the Women’s Division proved to be a more high-scoring affair as the BDA College Chargers surged to a 31–21 win over Phoenix Blaze. Kammie Mills spearheaded the Chargers' offensive charge with a 20-goal haul, supported by eight from Sydney Santos and three from Chelsea Almeida.

Deontae Scott was instrumental for the victors, claiming MVP honours for a performance that combined tactical awareness with high energy. For Phoenix Blaze, the prolific Danielle Raynor carried the bulk of the scoring burden with 20 goals, but it was not enough to overcome the collective depth of the collegiate side.

Action in the Coed Division was headlined by a nail-biting encounter between Baileys Bay Breezers and RenRe & Friends. In a match where every possession felt pivotal, RenRe & Friends managed to edge the contest 11–10 to secure the points.

Krishay Tucker was the central figure for the winning side, netting six goals and picking up the MVP award for her clinical finishing. Baileys Bay had their chances to force a draw, with Teyah Lindo delivering six goals of her own, but the RenRe defensive unit, led by Rakeem Deshields, held firm during a frantic final period.

The night concluded with a powerful display from the Allshore Ballers, who overwhelmed Somerset 32–8. The Ballers were relentless from the opening whistle, with Ebonie Cox delivering a masterclass in goal-shooting to finish with 17 goals.

Nikita Trott contributed 10 more in a performance that showcased the Ballers' superior speed and ball movement. Steveland Brown-Darrell was the standout individual on the court, claiming both the MVP and best defender awards for a dominant showing that stifled Somerset’s attack.

While Ramiah Brangman offered some resistance for Somerset with six goals, they simply had no answer for the clinical precision of an Allshore side that appears to be finding peak form as the summer season progresses.

The Bernard Park courts were a hive of activity as Netball Bermuda’s Summer League season officially moved into gear with a high-scoring opening round.

Two matches headlined the Women’s division, with the BDA College Chargers making an early statement of intent.

The Chargers powered past Tropical Storm thanks to a standout performance from MVP Sydney Santos, who clinical finishing saw her rack up 10 goals. She was well-supported by Best Attacker Jaelyn Rewan-Lambert, who contributed eight goals to the tally. Chelsea Almeida (2) and Ajia Darrell-Marsh (1) rounded out the scoring, while Keyahnee Burgess anchored the backline as Best Defender.

Tropical Storm’s resistance was led by Best Attacker Diyah Steede, who accounted for seven of their eight goals. Despite the scoreline, Journee Belboda earned MVP honours for the Storm, with Ranique Barker recognised as the side's top defender.

In the other Women's clash, Devonshire Recreation Club proved too strong for the Phoenix Blaze. Charlene Bogle Gomez spearheaded the attack with nine goals, followed by a balanced scoring effort from Miesha Greaves (Best Attacker) 6 goals, Kristin Holman 5 goals, Zakiyah Durham 3 goals, and Kessiah Jackson 2 goals.

Demiqua Daniels was named MVP for Devonshire, while Imani Smith took home the Best Defender award. For the Phoenix Blaze, Danielle Raynor matched the game-high with nine goals, but lacked sufficient support despite an MVP effort from Taylor Washington.

The 5/5 Coed Division provided the most fireworks of the day, producing a combined 68 goals across just two fixtures.

The Atlantic Aces dominated the opener, led by a prolific Jasmine Mapp. The MVP found the net 18 times in a shooting masterclass. Josh Martin added seven goals to the rout, while Kyle Godfrey and Sherika Burgess were named Best Attacker and Best Defender respectively. Somerset's Simeon Burrows stood out in defeat, earning both MVP and Best Attacker nods.

The highest score of the day belonged to the Storm Chasers, who dismantled the Allshore Ballers. Antoine Williams mirrored the division's top scoring feat with 18 goals to earn MVP honours.

In a notable crossover of sporting talent, FIFA Referee Amaury Majors traded the football pitch for the netball court, earning the Best Defender award for the Chasers. Ebonie Cox was the bright spot for Allshore, netting seven of their eight goals.

Netball’s Elite Honoured as Season Stars Celebrated

IslandStats.com
The curtain has officially fallen on another high-octane year of Bermudian netball, as the Bermuda Netball Association gathered the island’s top talent for the annual Premier and First Division Awards night. It was an evening defined by individual brilliance and collective growth, with the Tigers and Storm players dominating the top-tier accolades.

In the Premier Division, the Tigers’ defensive stalwart Khianda Pearman-Watson emerged as the night's biggest winner. Her relentless work in the circle earned her both the Best Defender and the prestigious Most Valuable Player titles, underscoring her role as the foundation of her side’s success.

The attacking honours went to Selah Tuzo of Storm, who was named Best Attacker for her clinical movement and vision, while teammate Debre Evans received the highest mark of respect from her peers, being voted the Players’ Player of the year.

The First Division awards highlighted the growing depth of talent in the secondary tier, with the Atlantic Aces featuring heavily on the podium. Sinae Symonds capped off a stellar individual campaign by being named both Best Defender and Players’ Player, while her teammate Charlotte Evans secured the Best Attacker trophy to complete an Aces sweep of the positional awards.

However, it was Jaya Dillas of the Phoenix Fire who took home the MVP crown for the division after a season of consistent, high-level influence.

The art of shooting was also a major talking point of the evening, with two players celebrated for their prolific accuracy under the post. Kammie Mills of the Phoenix Flames was recognised as the most lethal shooter in the country, finishing the season as the First Division leading goalscorer with a staggering 269 goals.

In the Premier Division, Jahkenya Trott proved to be the standard-bearer for the Tigers, leading the league with 134 goals to cap off a dominant year for her club.

Off the court, the tactical minds behind the teams were not forgotten. Anthony Mouchette was named Coach of the Year, a testament to his leadership and ability to navigate the challenges of a competitive local league. As the associations and clubs look toward the next cycle, the evening served as a vital reminder of the rising standards within the sport on the island.
