Elkinson Helps Toronto Reserves Win
Kilian Elkinson and the Toronto FC reserves have now won three games in a row after beating D.C. United reserves 2-1 at BMO Field.

Andrea Lombardo scored for the Toronto FC reserves in the first half and Gabe Gala doubled the lead after the break before D.C. United pulled a goal back.

Elkinson came on in the 46th minute as Toronto FC reserves improve to 3-1-0 in the MLS Reserve Division.

Lombardo thought it was a good performance from the team. "It's always good to score," he said. "But more importantly it's always good to get the win. That's three wins in a row and that's the most important thing, not who scores. You always want to compete, whether it's with the first team or the reserve team. For the reserve league, there's a trophy to be won at the end of the season and we are taking it seriously and we want to win the league."

Lombardo believes the depth of the squad will give the reserve side a better chance to succeed this season. "We had a lot of injuries in the squad last year so there were a lot of guys coming in just for the reserve games. Now we have a core group of players. For the past five or six games for the first team, the same guys have been playing. That means the same guys are on the bench and also playing for the reserves. We're starting to build a chemistry in the reserve team and that's something we couldn't do last season. Everyone wants to play, but the games are really beneficial for fitness as well"
