Berkeley Institute Golds held their nerve in a dramatic penalty shootout to defeat Berkeley Institute Greens and claim the Senior School Boys Under-16 Six-a-Side championship on home turf.
Following a tense, tactical 0 - 0 stalemate where neither schoolmate-turned-rival side could carve out a breakthrough in regulation time, the Golds prevailed 4 - 2 from the spot. Krayvon Bean-Burchall stepped up to convert the decisive spot-kick and cap off a remarkable personal tournament.
Bean-Burchall had already written the script in the final four, firing home two second-half strikes to dismantle Saltus Grammar School in a 2 - 0 Semi-Final win.
The Greens booked their place in the decider in equally dramatic fashion, leaning on a stoppage-time strike from Keni Hall to snatch a breathless 1 - 0 victory over CedarBridge Academy.
Earlier in the tournament, Saltus swept past Warwick Academy 3 - 0 in their playoff encounter thanks to goals from Asa Trew-Smith, Ziyon Mirambeaux Simmons, and Xavi Dill.
CedarBridge earned their date in the semi-finals courtesy of a gritty 1 - 0 win against Somersfield Academy, decided by a lone finish from Caden Burgess.
Yet when the dust settled on an action-packed day of tournament football, it was the Golds who emerged with the silverware, holding their composure from 12 yards out to seal inter-school bragging rights.
