Phoenix Heat made a commanding statement in the Premier Division, while tight finishes and dominant scoring runs lit up the junior divisions as Netball Bermuda's Winter League resumed at Bernard Park.
In the top-flight clash, Phoenix Heat underlined their title credentials with a comprehensive 42-23 victory over the North Village Lady Rams.
The Heat displayed clinical efficiency in the shooting circle, led by a player-of-the-match performance from Zakiyah Durham, who racked up a game-high 22 goals. Attacking partner Ebonie Cox provided formidable support, sinking 20 goals to cap a ruthless collective offensive showing. Zariah Amory orchestrated play smartly in attack, while Khianda Stephens marshalled the defensive end.
North Village fought resolutely, with MVP Zhanae Simmons leading the Lady Rams' scoring with 12 goals, supported by Darrika Simons (7) and Coriah Simmons (4), but Heat's relentless scoring pace proved decisive over four quarters.
Action in the Under-13 division provided contrasting spectacles, featuring a dramatic one-point thriller alongside two commanding team performances.
The most gripping encounter of the day saw Phoenix Embers edge past Storm Lightning 17-16 in a tense game three. MVP Quin Burgess proved the difference, leading the charge with a vital 14-goal haul alongside strikes from Zanna Jones (2) and Ari Edness (1). Storm Lightning pushed the Embers to the wire, with Soleil Steede and Reegan Lightbourne netting six apiece alongside four goals from Honor White, while Gabriella Babon earned team MVP honours in a match that went right to the final whistle.
Earlier, the North Village Lady Rams Under-13s opened the day's programme by grinding out a hard-fought 13-10 win against Phoenix Fireflies. Jordan Williams led the Lady Rams' attack with nine goals, while Sanaa Hodsoll added four, anchored by a solid defensive display from MVP Taylor Kyme. For the Fireflies, MVP Ahmia Trott and A'Mariss Dyer split scoring duties evenly with five goals apiece.
The standout individual scoring display in the junior ranks belonged to Dandy Stars, who swept aside Storm Thunder 28-3. MVP Aalaysia Watson produced an attacking masterclass with 17 goals, while Mia White chipped in with 11. Storm Thunder’s lone goals came courtesy of Elsie Purcell, Jher'Z Burgess, and Xela Hall, with Dallas Hinds earning team MVP honours for a determined defensive display in testing circumstances.
