North Village Rams 1 Somerset Trojans 1
Justin Donawa's emphatic second-half finish earned Somerset Trojans a hard-fought 1-1 draw against North Village Rams at Bernard Park.
The hosts made an ideal start, seizing the lead after just eight minutes courtesy of Jai Bean. Anticipating a sloppy backpass from the Somerset defence, the forward pounced on the loose ball and dispatched a cool finish to give the Rams an early advantage.
North Village maintained their narrow lead through to the interval, controlling periods of possession while blunting Somerset's attempts to find a rhythm going forward.
However, the Trojans emerged with greater intent after the restart and restored parity on the hour mark.
Latching onto a searching long ball played over the Rams' backline, Donawa outpaced his marker before unleashing a ferocious right-footed drive that gave the North Village goalkeeper no chance.
Both sides pushed for a decisive late winner in an increasingly physical contest, but neither could engineer another breakthrough, leaving the points shared at the final whistle.
