American Austin Smotherman captured the 2026 Butterfield Bermuda Championship title after overcoming Ireland's Seamus Power in a tense, three-hole sudden-death playoff at Port Royal Golf Course.
Locked together at the summit of the leaderboard after 54 holes, the pair returned to Port Royal’s perilous signature par-three 16th hole to decide the PGA Tour crown.
Perched above the crashing Atlantic ocean, the iconic 235-yard layout tested both competitors' nerve down the stretch, requiring three trips before Smotherman finally broke the deadlock to seal victory.
With coastal crosswinds sweeping across the cliffs, neither player flinched through the opening exchanges of the playoff.
Both Smotherman and Power produced composed tee shots and assured putts to trade matching pars on their first two visits to the 16th green.
The breakthrough arrived on the third sudden-death attempt. Power, the 2022 tournament champion, found trouble off the tee, failing to get up and down as he slipped to a costly bogey.
Smotherman kept his composure under maximum pressure, safely navigating the green to tap in for par and claim the biggest win of his career.
