Bermudian swimmer Thomas Cechini secured a podium finish for Loyola University Maryland on day two of the 26th annual Thomas Murphy Invitational in Baltimore.
Competing at the Mangione Aquatic Center, the sophomore middle-distance specialist took third place in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle Open 'A' final, stopping the clock in a brisk one minute 38.47 seconds.
Cechini had already signalled his intent during the morning session, qualifying second fastest overall in the preliminaries with a composed 1:39.65 touch. He then shaved over a second off that mark in the evening showdown to seal a top-three finish against a competitive collegiate field.
The performance builds on Cechini's solid opening day—where he posted a top-eight finish in the 500-yard freestyle—and provides valuable points as the host Greyhounds continue their push to defend their team title on home turf.
