Bermuda made a blistering start to the Caribbean Archery Championship and Caribbean Development Championship in Guyana, with Jaydon Roberts breaking a record to top his respective qualification rounds.
Despite testing conditions at the venue—where temperatures climbed to 91 degrees alongside gusty 12 to 15-knot winds—the Bermudian duo held their nerve to lead the field heading into the knockout stages.
In the senior Caribbean Archery Championship, Roberts braved the midday heat to deliver a commanding performance at 70 metres. The Bermudian posted a record-breaking score of 596 out of a possible 720 to claim top spot in the rankings.
Braeden Fraser was equally clinical in the Caribbean Development Championship. Taking to the line during the morning session, he competed at 40 metres, scoring 594 out of 720 to dominate the qualification standings.
Both archers will look to carry their momentum onto the target line when the head-to-head elimination rounds get underway on Saturday.
