Bermuda is on the verge of welcoming world-class small-sided football to its shores, with The Soccer Tournament (TST) style tournament closing in on plans to host a landmark $100,000 event on the island next year.
Just like the high-stakes six-a-side competition, renowned for its flagship $1m winner-take-all summer tournament in North Carolina, a similar tournament is preparing to expand its footprint with a four-day professional tournament tailored for Bermuda.
Under the proposals, the event will feature 20 teams and more than 280 elite players, combining high-calibre international professionals, rising talent, and local standouts in an intensive, fast-paced format.
Central to the concept is significant home representation, with Bermuda set to field two dedicated squads to compete directly against international opposition for the six-figure prize purse.
The showcase will be anchored by a major community outreach campaign titled "Ignite the Island", designed to ensure the tournament leaves a lasting impression well beyond the final whistle.
The initiative aims to connect visiting professional athletes with local schools, youth clubs, and grassroots football programmes across the island through coaching clinics, school visits, and interactive events.
Fast-paced tournament model
Format: Four-day professional 6v6 small-sided tournament Prize fund: $100,000 Field: 20 teams featuring over 280 total players Local representation: Two Bermudian squads confirmed Community initiative: "Ignite the Island" grassroots and youth outreach campaign
The arrival of TST’s high-octane brand represents a notable milestone for Bermudian football culture. Known for producing open, end-to-end encounters and distinctive high-drama rules, the seven-a-side model provides an ideal festival atmosphere while offering local players a genuine testing ground against seasoned overseas talent.
With final arrangements nearing completion, the event is set to deliver four days of top-tier entertainment for domestic supporters and place the island firmly on the international small-sided football map.
