Jasmine Spence and England secured a crucial first victory at the World Minifootball Federation (WMF) Women’s World Cup, edging Czechia 1-0 on Day Three in Mali Lošinj.
Following back-to-back defeats in their opening group fixtures, England arrived on the Croatian island knowing only a win would arrest their slide and breathe life back into their tournament campaign.
They delivered under pressure, producing a disciplined, gritty defensive display to hold off a determined Czech side and pocket three vital points.
The decisive breakthrough came courtesy of sharp tactical organisation, with Spence—bringing her trademark energy and international pedigree—helping England control the tempo and disrupt Czechia's rhythm in the central third.
Once in front, England weathered sustained periods of second-half pressure, closing down spaces on the tight small-sided pitch and showing the defensive composure that had deserted them earlier in the week.
The result marks a significant turning point in Croatia after a bruising start to the competition. With their first clean sheet and maximum points on the board, England now take momentum into the remainder of the group stage as they target a place in the knockout rounds.
