Spence on World Stage as Trott Shines for Cardiff

IslandStats.com
Bermuda international Jasmine Spence made her bow on the world stage in Croatia, while goalkeeper Nathan Trott headlined a busy weekend of domestic and European action for the island's contingent abroad.

Spence was named in England's squad for the World Minifootball Federation Women’s World Cup, taking to the turf as the tournament got under way in Mali Lošinj.

England faced a stern test in their opening group encounter, suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of a disciplined Serbia outfit. Despite the setback, Spence and her side remain firmly in contention with further group fixtures still to come.

In the English Championship, Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott enjoyed a stellar afternoon between the posts as Cardiff City swept Watford aside in an emphatic 5-1 rout at Cardiff City Stadium.

Trott set the tone inside the opening three minutes, pulling off a sharp reflex stop to deny Watford striker Myron Boadu from close range. The Bluebirds quickly capitalised on the reprieve, surging ahead and punishing the visitors with a ruthless five-goal display.

Across the English non-league pyramid, Bermudians were in the thick of the action:

Milan Butterfield: The midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Halesowen Town were held to a 1-1 draw against local rivals Alvechurch at The Grove.

Daizhari Tucker: The Worcester Raiders head coach oversaw a resolute defensive display, guiding his side to a hard-fought 0-0 stalemate against Bristol Manor Farm at Claines Lane.

Brighton Morrison & CJ Fubler: The duo were unused substitutes as Binfield FC suffered a bruising 6-2 defeat away to Egham Town at The Runnymede Stadium in the Isthmian League.

Further abroad, Riley and Luke Robinson enjoyed a productive outing in the Gibraltar Football League, featuring prominently as Glacis United cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over FC Hound Dogs at Europa Point Stadium.
