Bermuda’s cyclists capped off an outstanding campaign at the 2026 Caribbean Elite & U23 Road Cycling Championships in the Dominican Republic, with Gabriela Arnold claiming silver in the women’s road race and Nic Narraway taking bronze in the men’s event.
Following a medal-laden opening day in the individual time trials, the island's contingent carried their momentum into Sunday’s road races in Santo Domingo to secure further silverware on the regional stage.
In the elite women’s race, Arnold came agonisingly close to the top step of the podium. After navigating the 81.2-kilometre course, she was narrowly edged out in a photo-finish sprint at the line by the Dominican Republic's Raquel Restitullo, with both riders clocking an identical time of 2:17:55.
Panzy Olander crossed fifth overall in 2:23:43, while rising prospect Charlotte Millington produced another accomplished ride to finish ninth in 2:24:21, securing the Under-23 division silver medal.
In the 127.6km elite men’s road race, Narraway added a bronze medal to his silver from Saturday’s Time Trial after a ferocious battle for the podium.
Puerto Rico's Christopher Morales Fontán broke away to seal gold in 3:11:19, leaving a chasing group to duel for the remaining spots. Narraway stopped the clock in 3:12:47, sharing the exact finishing time with silver medallist Briton John of Guyana.
Fresh from claiming gold in the individual time trial 24 hours earlier, Kaden Hopkins ensured Bermuda placed two riders inside the top ten, crossing the line in seventh position in 3:16:08.
The race was not without misfortune for the Bermudian squad. Alexander Miller suffered an early puncture that ended his afternoon prematurely, while Conor White and Dominique Mayho recorded DNFs after working hard in service of the team’s overall strategy.
