A strong Bermudian contingent played a pivotal role as St Andrew’s College (SAC) maintained their flawless start to the season with back-to-back midweek victories.
Bermudian defender Michael Madeiros, senior compatriot Jah’Zion Taylor, and Bermuda resident Heris Ziai all featured prominently as the Saints swept aside De La Salle College and the Blue Knights to move top of the CISAA table with a perfect 3-0-0 record.
The two-match blitz also showcased attacking fireworks, headlined by a rapid natural hat-trick from Dylan Mahoney and a home brace from Santiago Bracamontes Lance.
The opening fixture at De La Salle College saw SAC set the tempo early, courtesy of a piece of set-piece quality from Ziai. The Bermuda resident struck an 18th-minute free-kick to break the deadlock and set the visitors on their way.
De La Salle were then dealt a hammer blow right on the stroke of half-time. Left-back Jackson Mahoney fashioned space down the flank before delivering a crafty cutback for Duncan Ramon, who coolly slotted home his first goal at first-team level.
The second half belonged entirely to Dylan Mahoney.
The winger produced a devastating nine-minute burst to claim a natural hat-trick, leaving the hosts completely shell-shocked. Mahoney was not done there, capping a sparkling display by teeing up Gabe Covello for his first of the campaign as St Andrew’s eased to an emphatic 6-1 victory.
Returning to Yuill Field just 48 hours later, SAC were forced to contend with five senior starters absent from the lineup.
Yet the Saints barely broke stride. Alex Wang opened the scoring early before Bermudian senior Jah’Zion Taylor doubled the advantage inside the opening 25 minutes to put the hosts in firm control.
Bracamontes Lance then took centre stage, notching a fine brace to secure the points and keep St Andrew’s perched at the league summit.
At the other end of the pitch, Madeiros helped anchor a resolute defensive unit across both fixtures, working alongside goalkeepers Raistlan Evans and Joseph Corsetti. Corsetti preserved Wednesday’s clean sheet in style, pulling off a superb diving save to deny a dangerous Blue Knights free-kick in the closing stages.
