Grimes and DeRosa Holder Tournaments Updates

IslandStats.com
A breathless festival of youth football produced an avalanche of goals across Bermuda as the Gregory Grimes Under 13 Championships and the Leonard DeRosa Holder Under 15 tournaments delivered a series of emphatic knockout victories.

The under 13 championship quarter-finals saw Warwick FA Boca Juniors run riot at Warwick Academy, brushing aside Devonshire Colts 9-1. Jason Ngaruiya opened the floodgates after three minutes, followed swiftly by strikes from Ajani Trott on 13 minutes and Mahkee Simmons two minutes later. Jaden Walrond made it four on 40 minutes before Arichie Astwood-Simmons and Eoin Muirhead struck in quick succession. Owen Fosker added his name to the scoresheet on 48 minutes, while Aiden Famous pulled one back for Colts on 54 minutes. Lenox Brown and Mahkel Simmons rounded out the scoring for the dominant hosts.

At White Hill Field, Somerset Trojans edged past Vasco da Gama Green 3-2 in a dramatic thriller. King Phillips gave Vasco the lead on 34 minutes, but Cove Bailey turned the contest on its head with a heroic second-half hat-trick, scoring on 44, 48, and 66 minutes. Antoine Whitter had levelled briefly for Vasco on 59 minutes, yet Bailey’s late finish proved decisive.

Meanwhile at PHC Field, PHC Zebras cruised into the semi-finals with a comfortable 6-1 win over FC Bascome Gold. Kaden Robinson struck in the seventh minute, with Uriah Caisey, Oliver Anderson, and Jacree Francis finding the net within the opening twenty minutes. Eli Oduntan gave FC Bascome brief hope on 33 minutes, but second-half efforts from Landon Williams and T’Kobi Scott sealed an emphatic victory.

In the under 13 plate play-in round, Dandy Town produced the performance of the day at Shelly Bay Field by dismantling X-Roads 10-1. Despite Lucas Booth giving X-Roads a shock lead inside sixty seconds, King-Klos Smith Arorash equalised a minute later before Mazaii Tucker ripped through the defence with an 18-minute hat-trick. Braces from Riley Millett, Royal Fubler-Tucker, and Breez Chase completed the rout.

Elsewhere in the plate fixtures, North Village Rams Whites defeated Vasco da Gama Red 3-1 at Shelly Bay Field through goals from Andre Coley, Israel Katambo, and Rio Stovell, with Marcus Cann replying for Vasco. At Bernard Park, North Village Rams Reds eased past Warwick FA River Plate 5-0 thanks to a double from Malik Tomaz alongside goals from Michael Caines, T’si Outerbridge, and Jahkari Samuels.

The under 15 Leonard DeRosa Holder quarter-finals were equally one-sided affairs. Somerset Trojans advanced in style at White Hill Field with a 7-0 demolition of X-Roads, powered by a pair of goals each from Russon Bailey and Jai White, accompanied by strikes from Chanz Martin, As’ad Muhammad, and Krayvon Bean-Burchall.

At Warwick Academy, Warwick FA shut out North Village Rams 4-0, courtesy of a brace from Jazhari Ingham and further finishes from Cillian McGlynn and Rory Fosker.

PHC Zebras booked their last-four berth with a 5-1 win over Devonshire Colts at PHC Field. Stephen Astwood led the way with a superb hat-trick, supported by goals from Chase Simmons and Jaylon Glasford, while Heni Hall grabbed a consolation for Colts.

FC Bascome wrapped up the under 15 action at White Hill Field with a convincing 6-1 triumph against Vasco da Gama. Doubles from Remy Furbert and Dash Bailey set up the win, with Adaj O’Brien adding another, while Samuel Vales scored the lone reply for Vasco.
