FA Cup Drama & Goals for Bermudians in English Non-League

IslandStats.com
Bermudian footballers experienced a thrilling afternoon across the English football pyramid, highlighted by Emirates FA Cup third-round qualifying heroics and league action up and down the country.

It was a dramatic weekend in non-league football's most prestigious cup competition, none more so than for midfielder Milan Butterfield and his Halesowen Town team-mates.

Travelling to the Stan Robinson Stadium to face Stafford Rangers in the FA Cup third round qualifying, Halesowen looked destined for an exit before snatching a 1-1 draw seven minutes into stoppage time. The 97th-minute equaliser forces a replay at The Grove on Tuesday night to decide who progresses.

There was outright celebration for Willie Clemons and Leiston FC, who booked their spot in the next stage with an impressive 3-1 victory away to Coventry United at the Flannery Stadium.

Elsewhere in the competition, Jutorre Burgess watched on from the bench as an unused substitute while Harborough Town edged a five-goal thriller, securing a memorable 3-2 triumph over National League South side St Albans City to march on in the FA Cup.

In league action, veteran Bermuda international Reggie Lambe made an immediate impression for Ipswich Wanderers against Harleston Town in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.

Lambe opened the scoring at the GBS Stadium after just 14 minutes with a clinical strike, though Wanderers ultimately had to settle for a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

In the United Counties Football League, forward Ayleal Dill and Southwell City were held to a frustrating 0-0 stalemate on home soil against a resolute Sandiacre Town defence.

Meanwhile, Daizhari Tucker oversaw a resilient display from the dugout as head coach of Worcester Raiders. Making the long trip down to Devon to face Tiverton Town at the Slee Blackwell Solicitors Stadium, Tucker's side battled to an entertaining 2-2 draw on the road.
