The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed former Bermuda captain David Hemp as head coach of the women's national team on a two-year contract running until September 2028.
The 55-year-old takes over from Sarwar Imran, who had held the reins since February 2025. Hemp will officially link up with the squad in Brisbane ahead of their upcoming One-Day International series against Australia.
Hemp is already a familiar figure within Bangladesh's setup, having joined the BCB in May 2023 to head their High Performance programme. He served as the men's national team batting coach in 2024 following an earlier stint during their 2023 tour of New Zealand.
He also brings recent direct experience with the national women's squad, having served as batting coach during the 2025 ICC Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan and the T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal earlier this year.
"The appointment gives Hemp an opportunity to work with the Bangladesh women's team again," the BCB confirmed in an official statement.
Hemp boasts significant pedigree in the women's international and franchise game. He previously led the Pakistan women's national team as head coach between 2020 and 2022, alongside stints in Australia in charge of Victoria and Melbourne Stars in the Women's Big Bash League.
