It was an eventful weekend across the continent for Bermuda's international stars, with Leilanni Nesbeth playing a pivotal role in Como Women's Serie A curtain-raiser, while Nia Christopher's Hafnarfjordur fell just short of a dramatic comeback in Iceland.
In Italy, Nesbeth helped Como Women make a winning start to their 2026/27 Serie A Women Athora campaign with a hard-fought away victory against newly promoted Ternana Women.
The visitors wasted little time asserting themselves, breaking the deadlock after just eight minutes. An incisive burst down the left flank saw Bernardi whip a teasing ball across the face of goal, forcing an unfortunate deflection off Ternana’s Martins into her own net.
Ternana responded resiliently to the early setback and drew level in the 32nd minute to leave the contest finely poised at the interval.
However, Como’s patience paid off nine minutes from time, with Nesbeth instrumental in carving out the decisive moment. A sharp, slick combination down the left between Ronan and Nesbeth freed the Bermudian midfielder, whose pinpoint cross into the penalty area was met by Nielsen. The Danish forward made no mistake, opening her Como account in style to seal maximum points on the opening weekend.
Meanwhile, in Iceland's Besta deild kvenna, Christopher and Hafnarfjordur were on the wrong end of a five-goal spectacle, going down 3-2 to Grindavik/Njardvik.
Grindavik/Njardvik seized early control, clinical in the final third as Emma Phillips notched a sharp brace either side of a Tinna Einarsdottir strike to establish a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Staring down a heavy defeat, Hafnarfjordur rallied late on. Hafrun Helgadottir ignited hope by pulling a goal back, before Elin Bjorg Simonardottir struck a second to ensure a grandstand finish.
Hafnarfjordur threw numbers forward in stoppage time in search of a dramatic leveller, but Grindavik/Njardvik dug in to weather the barrage and hold on for the points.
