Bermudian goalkeeper Xahvi DeRoza and his Hobart College team-mates held off Brockport to claim a hard-fought 2-1 non-conference victory on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
Senior Quinn Phillips proved the hero for the Statesmen, striking five minutes from time to break late parity and secure the win.
Hobart established early control and took the lead through junior Weldon Arner, who found the target to put the visitors on the front foot.
Brockport pushed back and found an equaliser courtesy of Khadim Amar, sparking a tense, back-and-forth second half. Golden Eagles goalkeeper AJ Nelson put in a resolute 90-minute shift between the posts, pulling off six saves to keep the hosts in the contest.
At the other end, junior Jake Hans got the starting nod in goal for Hobart, producing three vital stops to repel Brockport’s surges.
With extra time looming, Hobart ramped up the pressure and made the decisive breakthrough in the 85th minute, when Phillips finished clinically to seal a gritty 2-1 road triumph.
