A sensational individual strike and a poacher’s finish from Jai Bean propelled the North Village Rams to a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Paget Lions at Bernard Park.
Following an attritional, goalless opening period in which both defences largely held firm, Bean broke the contest wide open straight from the restart with a moment of pure magic.
Picking up possession inside the Paget half just seconds into the second spell, the forward wriggled away from three converging challenges before unleashing a sublime, curling 20-yard effort that arched beyond the goalkeeper's reach into the back of the net.
With Paget pressing forward in search of an equaliser, the Rams struck decisively on the break to put the result beyond doubt.
A raking long ball unlocked the Lions' backline, allowing Village to latch onto possession and square the ball cleanly across the face of goal, leaving the predatory Bean with the simplest of tap-ins to claim his second of the afternoon.
North Village managed the remainder of the contest with authority, repelling Paget's late set-piece pressure to preserve their clean sheet and secure maximum points on home soil.
