Motorists in the east end have been advised of road closures and traffic restrictions this Sunday as Bermuda’s triathletes take to the course in St David’s.
The Bermuda Triathlon Association’s Aon Ltd Mixed Team Relay Triathlon is scheduled to run between 08:00 and 10:15 on 20 September, centered around Clearwater Beach and Cooper’s Island Road.
Competitors will set off from the Clearwater Beach car park, navigating along Cooper’s Island Road and onto Southside Road before looping back towards the finish area.
To facilitate the race and ensure athlete safety, extensive road closures will be implemented throughout the morning. Southside Road, Tommy Fox Road, and Pepper Hall Road will all be shut to regular vehicular traffic for the duration of the event.
A 55 km/h speed variation has also been sanctioned along the race route for participating cyclists.
Police officers and race marshals will manage diversions on the ground, with the Ministry of Public Works and Environment urging drivers to adhere to instructions, proceed with extra caution in surrounding areas, and plan journeys accordingly.
