Khari Sharrieff and his Howard University teammates claimed their first victory of the 2026 campaign, securing a hard-fought 1-0 win over Radford at Greene Stadium.
The triumph carried historic significance for the Bison, ending a five-match losing streak against the Highlanders and delivering Howard’s first ever victory in the series between the two programs.
Howard set the tempo from the opening whistle, creating their first sight of goal inside two minutes when Zach Simmons fired over the crossbar. With Xavier Sharp probing down the flanks, the hosts forced a pair of early corners to keep Radford pinned in their own defensive third.
The visitors absorbed the pressure and carved out their best chance of the opening period in the 21st minute, but Howard goalkeeper Liam Keiller produced a vital stop to deny Dax Booth. The Bison responded before the interval, with Kamran Wimberly forcing Ben Miller into a low diving save to keep the contest scoreless at the break.
Howard’s breakthrough arrived less than three minutes into the second half. Following a foul in the area, Kaban calmly stepped up to the penalty spot at the 47:22 mark, sending Miller the wrong way to slot home the decisive goal.
Rather than sitting on the slender lead, the Bison pushed for a cushion. Simmons was a constant thorn in the Highlanders' backline, forcing Miller into three sharp saves in the 57th, 60th, and 73rd minutes, before Sharp and Marshall Lloyd both saw late efforts repelled.
Radford mounted a frantic push in the closing stages and came agonizingly close to levelling when Jackson Boreham struck the woodwork in the 76th minute. However, Keiller stood firm between the posts, executing crucial saves in the 75th and 81st minutes to lock down the clean sheet and confirm a milestone victory for Sharrieff and his side.
