X-Road's laid down an emphatic early-season marker in the Dudley Eve Trophy, dismantling powerhouse PHC Zebras 6-2 in an extraordinary opening clash, while Devonshire Cougars held off Paget Lions in a tight five-goal encounter.

In the day's early fixture, X-Road's produced an astonishing first-half blitz that left reigning league champions PHC stunned and completely overwhelmed.
Paul Simons stole the show early, delivering an eighteen-minute masterclass in finishing. Simons opened the scoring in the 15th minute before doubling his tally five minutes later. By the 33rd minute, he had completed a clinical hat-trick to put X-Road's in total command.
Before the Zebras could regroup, Donavan Thompson unleashed a second wave of punishment. Thompson struck in the 34th minute and added another just three minutes later, sending X-Road's into the break with an unassailable 5-0 advantage.
PHC attempted to mount a response after the interval, finally breaching the defence when Joshua Joseph found the net in the 67th minute.
However, Thompson extinguished any remote hopes of a comeback in the 74th minute, capping his own personal treble to restore the five-goal cushion. Kilian Elkinson struck a consolation for PHC in the 87th minute, but it did little to soften the blow of a bruising afternoon for the Zebras.
Devonshire Cougars 3 Paget Lions 2
The later match at the Devonshire Recreation Club proved a far tighter affair, with Devonshire Cougars securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Paget Lions.
Cougars drew first blood in the 17th minute through a composed finish from Zari Simmons. Paget responded well to the setback, applying steady pressure and finding an equaliser four minutes before the break courtesy of Rakeem DeShields.
Tied 1-1 at half-time, Cougars struck almost immediately after the restart. Justin Bell restored the host side's lead in the 46th minute, catching the Lions cold right from the whistle. Chae Brangman then extended the advantage in the 62nd minute to give Devonshire a two-goal cushion.
Paget refused to surrender, setting up a tense finale when Shakir Smith scored deep into stoppage time (90+2'). However, time ran out for the Lions as Cougars stood firm in the closing seconds to take all three points.
