IslandStats.com
PHC Zebras sent an emphatic warning to the rest of the domestic competition as captain Enrique Russell scored four goals in a 9-2 demolition of Young Men's Social Club, before Devonshire Colts edged rivals Devonshire Cougars 4-3 on a dramatic opening night of Dudley Eve Trophy action at Bernard Park.

The Zebras needed less than 60 seconds to open their account, with Jeze Butterfield finding the net in the first minute before Russell doubled the advantage just three minutes later.

Russell made it 3-0 in the 13th minute as the PHC attack ran riot, with Tristan Davis adding a fourth shortly afterwards and Butterfield claiming his second of the evening to stretch the lead to 5-0 inside the opening half-hour.

Young Men's Social Club momentarily stemmed the tide when Kimshun Smith pulled a goal back in the 40th minute, but an unfortunate own goal restored PHC's five-goal cushion to send them into the interval with a commanding 6-1 advantage.

Russell continued his ruthless display after the restart, completing his hat-trick in the 57th minute and slotting home his fourth of the match in the 69th minute to extend the margin.

Bermuda international Zeiko Lewis grabbed a consolation for Social Club in the 76th minute, but Daniel Cook put the seal on an overwhelming attacking showcase with a strike two minutes into stoppage time to wrap up the 9-2 victory.

The evening's second fixture delivered an equally pulsating contest as Devonshire Colts held on to secure a breathless 4-3 parish derby win over Devonshire Cougars.

Colts took control late in the first half courtesy of a quickfire double from Sonaj Mitchell, who struck in the 39th and 42nd minutes to hand his side a 2-0 cushion at the break. Jahzardae Samuels then added a third four minutes into the second half to put Colts firmly in the driving seat.

Cougars mounted a spirited fightback, cutting the deficit through Zari Simmons in the 58th minute before veteran forward Domico Coddington struck in the 64th minute to make it 3-2. When Liam Evans drew Cougars level with eight minutes remaining, momentum appeared entirely with the green and yellow.

However, Colts summoned a decisive final response, with Rahzir Jones finding the net in the 90th minute to snatch all three points at the death and settle a seven-goal classic.
