North Village Rams 3 Dandy Town Hornets 1
North Village Rams lifted the Charity Cup to kick off the new domestic season in style, overcoming fierce rivals Dandy Town Hornets 3-1 in an entertaining clash.
The Rams drew first blood in the 22nd minute through Sincere Hall, who showed sharp footwork to turn his marker before beating the goalkeeper with a crisp finish at the near post to take a 1-0 advantage into the interval.
Dandy Town responded quickly after the restart, with Blaze Hall restoring parity in the 52nd minute with a composed finish to level the score at 1-1.
Village regained control in the 72nd minute via a set-piece scramble. Jalen Harvey's header from a corner caused chaos in the six-yard box, where an attempted defensive clearance deflected off the Hornets goalkeeper and into the net to restore the Rams' advantage.
The match looked set for a grandstand finish when Dandy Town goalkeeper Jahquil Hill denied Jai Bean from the penalty spot in the 79th minute to keep his side within striking distance.
However, Owen Botelho extinguished any hopes of a late Hornets resurgence, bundling home from close range two minutes into stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt and seal the first piece of silverware of the campaign for the Rams.
