Bermuda youth outfit X-Roads Warriors completed an impressive showing at the 18th Annual Virginia Cup, with both their Under-11 and Under-17 squads finishing second in their respective brackets.
Co-hosted by FC Richmond and Virginia Legacy Soccer Club across the premier River City and Warhill Sportsplex facilities, the tournament stands as the state's largest Labor Day competition, drawing hundreds of elite youth sides.
In the Male Under-11 Boys Elite Division Bracket A, X-Roads capped their pool play with a composed 2-0 victory over FC Richmond Pre-MLS NEXT Navy. The three points lifted the Bermudian side to four points overall to claim second place in the group, earning them a berth in the final against pool leaders Virginia Velocity FC U11 Vortex, who ultimately claimed the silverware with a 5-2 win.
The club’s older contingent matched that achievement in the Male Under-17 Boys Premier Division Bracket A. X-Roads wrapped up their group fixtures with a convincing 3-1 victory over Virginia Legacy SC N1 2009/2010 Boys Elite.
The result moved the Under-17 squad to six points from their matches, cementing a hard-earned second-place group finish to bring a successful overseas campaign to a close.
