Bermuda’s golfers have brought the curtain down on the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship in South Carolina, highlighted by a commanding Gross Division title for Ann Symonds and a share of first place for Dave Abraham.
The final round across the Grand Strand courses delivered standout performances from the island contingent, with Symonds anchoring the week's success in Flight 53 for Women 59 and Under. Closing her campaign with an 88, Symonds clinched victory in the Gross Division while securing an impressive third-place finish overall in the Net standings. Her teammate Angela Cook also concluded the week on a high note, firing a final-round 85 to climb into seventh place overall and secure two top-ten finishes for Bermuda in the division.
In Flight 22 for Mid Senior Men aged 60 to 69, Dave Abraham mounted a formidable final assault on the leaderboard. Carding a superb two-over-par 78, Abraham surged into a tie for first place to conclude a stellar week of scoring. In the same flight, Antony Than carded a closing 90 to finish tied for 36th.
Tracy Burgess delivered one of the finest rounds of the day for the contingent in Flight 52 of the Women’s Gross competition. Shaving 14 strokes off her penultimate round, Burgess produced a clinical 77 to seal an eighth-place finish in an elite gross-scoring field.
In Flight 55 for Senior Women 60 and Above, Ann Mitchell rounded off a consistent four days on the links with a final-round 88, earning a tie for 16th.
Meanwhile, in Flight 9 for Senior Men aged 50 to 59, Richard Marriott followed up his low-scoring third round with an 82, closing out his tournament in 36th place. Gary Venning also completed his campaign in Flight 44 for Super Senior Men aged 70 to 79, concluding a demanding week of golf against an international field.
The collective results mark an exceptional four-day display of endurance and shot-making for the Bermuda delegation, capped by silverware for Symonds and Abraham at the world's largest single-site amateur golf tournament.
